1. What happens during my first visit?
A licensed physical therapist will evaluate your condition including your medical history, range of motion, strength, pain, balance and functional abilities. The therapist will then develop treatment goals and a plan to address your specific needs. You will receive a treatment/exercise program on your first visit.
2. What should I bring to my appointment?
Your insurance card, the prescription from your physician (if you have one), any protocol you received from your surgeon (if applicable).
3. What should I wear?
Wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows us to examine the affected area.
4. Do I need to see a doctor before seeing a physical therapist?
It is dependent upon your insurance but usually only those who are over the age of 65 need to have a doctor’s prescription for physical therapy.
5. How long will each treatment last?
You will need to plan on one hour for your first appointment. Subsequent appointments usually are 40 to 45 minutes although some may be an hour, dependent upon your problem.
